Preparing Your Top for Machine Quilting

QUILT TOP

• Trim all threads.
• If your border/edge is pieced, sew a line of stay-stitching around the entire top. This will lock the seams
  and keep them from coming un-sewn and prevent distortion of the top.
• Press quilt top.

BACKING

• Backing should be AT LEAST 8 inches wider and 8 inches longer than your top.
• If you piece your backing, the edges should be even – trim if necessary.
• Press the backing

OTHER

• Fold top and backing carefully.
• If you bring top and backing in a bag you want returned, please have your name and phone number attached to the bag.
• I am happy to let you pay me to trim, piece and press for you. Additional charges apply for each.
• There is no charge for touch-up pressing.
